Nestled in the heart of Elmwood, Berkeley, Yama Kids Yoga Camp is a place where kids ages 5-10 can explore yoga, mindfulness, and creativity in a supportive and engaging environment. Here’s a glimpse into a typical day at camp, where movement, art, and play come together to create a truly special experience!

Morning Warm-Up & Yoga

Each day at Yama Kids Yoga Camp begins with warm welcomes and fun activities to ease into the morning. From 9:00 to 9:30 AM, campers arrive and engage in simple crafts or light movement to get ready for the day ahead. At 9:30, the real magic begins—a yoga session designed for kids, introducing them to foundational poses, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices. This hour-long session encourages flexibility, balance, and relaxation while instilling the core values of yoga: kindness, patience, and self-awareness.

Creative Exploration & Yoga Games

A girl paints clothespins at a table with paint and autumn leaves. Other children focus on crafts in a cozy, brick-walled room.

After a busy morning, campers take a quick snack break before diving into a hands-on craft project at 10:45 AM. Whether it’s creating seasonal crafts, painting, or making collaborative art, this time nurtures creativity and self-expression. Once they've put the final touches on their art projects, it’s time to move again! From 11:30 to 12:15, kids enjoy another yoga session, this time incorporating interactive games that bring laughter and connection.

Lunch & Outdoor Adventures

At 12:15 PM, campers sit down to lunch and get ready for a another highlight of the day—park time! By 1:00 PM, they’re off to Willard or Sand Park, where they practice mindful meditation in nature before enjoying free play. Whether climbing, running, or simply soaking up the fresh air, this outdoor session allows kids run around and get the wiggles out, before we head back to the studio.

Relaxation and Rest

After returning to the studio around 2:15 PM, campers transition into a calming savasana—the final resting pose in yoga. This peaceful moment helps them wind down and reflect on the day’s activities. By 2:45 PM, it’s time to pack up, with a little free time for those who aren’t staying for aftercare.

Extended Fun in Aftercare

For those enrolled in aftercare, the fun continues from 3:00 to 5:00 PM with extra snacks, games, and free play, allowing kids to unwind in a relaxed setting.
